House League Hockey 2008-09 Season

The 2008-2009 Evanston Youth Hockey Association (EYHA) House League hockey begins Saturday, September 20, 2008, and will run through late February. Those interested should make sure to be there on Saturday the 20th, or contact EYHA to show that they intend to join if you cannot make it. Evaluations will be held on the 20th and 27th of September and the teams put together after that with all kids who are interested and have a minimum level of skating competency.

Registration need not be done in advance, and may be done when you show up to play. If you wish to register in advance, please contact Robert Crown.

WE NEED PARENTS TO VOLUNTEER AS TEAM COACHES AND TEAM MANAGERS AT ALL LEVELS. NO SKATING ABILITY OR PREVIOUS HOCKEY EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED.

Pre-Hockey Free Skate

On Saturday, September 13, 2008, there will be a free pre-season “Let’s Play Hockey” session for all interested families. Those interested in playing hockey for the 2008-09 season should come to Robert Crown at the times below to skate with the EYHA coaches and see if hockey is the game for you. Thanks to past donation of used equipment, there should be equipment available to those who want to try the sport without having to first go buy all of the necessary equipment. If you think you are interested, please come join us.

• Mites (kids born in the year 2000 or later): 12:15 p.m.
  
  
• Squirts (kids born in 1998 or 1999): 1:15 p.m.
  
  
• Peewees & Bantams (kids born in 1994, 1995, 1996, or 1997): 2:30 p.m.
  
  

Mighty Mites

For beginning skaters, born in the year 2000 or later, this program offers instruction and games on Monday evenings at 5:50-6:50 p.m. The session runs from September 15 through November 17, and the cost is $150.

Mites

For kids born in the year 2000 and later. The mite level program, for kids with some skating experience, will involve skills sessions and games, all at Robert Crown. Skill sessions will generally be on Saturdays and will be run by one of the EYHA coaches. The players will be divided into different teams for games, which they will play against each other on Sundays. Games will coached and supervised by parent coaches. Mites will be divided between first year players, Minor Mites, and returning or more skilled players, Major Mites.

For the first several weeks of the program, practices will be on Saturdays at 12:15. The cost for the season is $450 for Minor Mites and $550 for Major Mites.

Squirts, Peewees, and Bantams

The Squirts, Peewees and Bantams will have regular practice sessions on Saturdays, with games starting after mid-October against other house league teams in the area. Skill sessions will be run by one of the EYHA coaches. Games will coached and supervised by parent coaches.

• Squirts (1998 and 1999 birth years): Practice on Saturdays at 1:15 p.m. and Sundays at 12:45 p.m. for the first several weeks; cost is $580 for the season
  
  
• Peewees (1996 and 1997 birth years): Practice on Saturdays at 2:30 p.m. and Sundays at 4:15 p.m. for the first several weeks; cost is $605 for the season
  
  
• Bantams (1994 and 1995 birth years): Practice on Saturdays at 2:30 p.m. and Sundays at 4:15 p.m. for the first several weeks; cost is $650 for the season
